Re: 65 B body Steering Column ??????????????????

On my 65 Coronet 440 convert (RIP due to the rusties), I used an early 70's 727 and IIRC a column out of a 68 or 69 B Body. I reused the plate from the 65 to secure the column to the firewall and used a modified B Body mechanical linkage from the column to the transmission.

Yes,you are correct in that I want to change my automatic steering column ( auto on the wheel) to another column that will allow me to use a mehanical lingage 727 . I know that I will have to change the transmision too. I need to know whether a 66 B body column wll bolt into a 1965. I do not want to cut or alter the firewall.
Appreciate your comments. Thank you

I was under the impression he just wanted to change the column. I think
that'd be doable but I think the trans wouldn't cooperate unless it was
changed to a later model too.

The '65 was the last year for the cable shift wasn't it? Isn't the
transmission hook-up different for the mechanical type as opposed to the

cable type? Can a cable shift trans be switched that way without other
mods?
