Actually, the Performer(AFB in disguise) and the Thunder (AVS in disguise) are very similar carbs. The main difference is in the secondaries. Thunder uses a larger, adjustable secondary air valve, whereas the Performer uses a non-adjustable flapper valve down inside the secondary venturies. Either should perform well,when setup properly. You should be around 750 cfm.

   Can anyone which Edelbrock carb is the better one, either the Performer
or the thunder AVS? It's going on my Coronet 383, purple cam, 4 spd and
3::55 gear? I have the AVS now, been offered a Performer the same CFM.
