Re: 67 Barracuda

I've parted out a 71 slant equipped Valiant that the original owner optioned with an 8 3/4 cause he needed something heavy duty to occasionally pull a trailer but had the slant for every day economy.

It would likely have a 7 1/4 rear. I have seen 273 cars with the 8 3/4, but not many.

I doubt the 8.75 was standard or they wouldn't be so hard to come by (last I checked, A-body 8.75s demanded a premium). I suspect the 8.75 came in the big blocks and maybe behind 4 speed small blocks. Everything else likely got a smaller rear. getting a little new for me, but I had a 69, and it had an 8 3/4 in it which I think was standard for them

Hey guys... I just agreed to purchase a 67 Barracuda from a friend of mine. He bought it out of an estate. The previous owner had started installing complete rear quarters with drywall screws. I took one off and found that the rust is not bad enough for complete quarters so am thinking of cutting out the bad rust and installing
patch
panels. Minimal rust in the trunk and floor pans....Can be repaired with patch pieces. Not going to worry about the interior as it will have roll bars and one racing seat. It has a 273 with headers and an automatic. The 273 will be replaced with my 496 stroker motor so it and the tranny will be for sale soon to the list first. My question is.....what size rear end does this type of vehicle have? Later Bill Harrison 65 Coronet 2dr post. Oh....I do hope to keep this from the wife for a week or two.....
