Re: F R glass rubber gaskets

My '64 Dodge B body 440 2 dr ht. is exactly as you describe and as the service manual shows as well.

Subject: F R glass rubber gaskets

I'm almost finished with the total tear-down of my '64 Dodge B body 440 2 dr ht. But I'd like to pick your brains on the difference I found between the F and R rubber gaskets. That is, the F gasket has a slit all the way around the perimeter on the outside face. This slit is a locking/un-locking type to facilitate remove/install of the glass. For re-installation, the gasket is first installed into the F frame opening then the glass is installed into the gasket. The R gasket is solid and is first installed on the glass then the glass w/gasket is installed into the rear frame opening.
Both gaskets would use the pull string line method to re-install but the rear will be done from inside the car while the F will be done from the outside. My question then, is this F to R gasket difference typical or might one or the other been replaced at some point?
Thank you,
Dave
