The car is a natural A/SA or AA/SA car in NHRA.  They probably didn't run Stock Eliminator at that race, so Barton put the car in Superstock so he could race there.

Some of the new Cobra Jets and Challengers have been known to do the same thing.  Usually its the cars that can go way under their index in Stock that can do that and remain somewhat competitive in Superstock.
