Why would he not sell "out of the country"

I have purchased a car from the US before, and the fellow was great to deal 
with, and we still keep in touch.

I hope to 1 day go to America, and 1 of my places to visit is Tommy, the 
fellow that sold me his car.

I live in Australia.
