Re: Rebuilding Dodges and eyes

Thanks Mopar friends for your words of comfort and encouragement. It really does help to know friends have you in their thoughts, The Doc says everything could not have gone better . They are doing a few things to help healing in this procedure , and now healing properly is what I need. I should start seeing better in a week or two and be a little more comfortable. . Pain is not bad- over the counter meds take care of it. I have stitches that will remain for 4-6 months . Sounds a lot worse than it really is!!

I got the "Scarebird" disc brake conversion installed Tuesday night and am very pleased with it. I willl have the wifey put up a way to see pics of it . They tell me I can't go to the shop and play with "BRUTUS" ( my 64 Dodge) for a while, but I am planning the next things to work on........................MO

Hi MO (Steve),
I remember you being one of the first to greet / welcome me to this board when I signed on. Man, you sure made a lot of headway on the Dodge, far more then I have on mine! Between our commonalities you mentioned then and now in your time of need, I sure wish we were not so far apart so I could be of some help, as I know many others here would as well. Keep the faith, as we all will here for your speedy recovery!
Prayers and best wishes Steve!
Dave Bailey

I have been slowly working on my Dodge which is a real challenge , as I have
about 25% vision for the past year.. Hopefully that will change after
Wednesday the 14 th. The Docs will re- open my partialy sewn shut
eyelids( one eye) Do a forth corneal transplant , Lay a self dissolving
membrane over that( dissolves in about a week), and then sew my eyelids
partially shut again( for protection from the environment) If all goes
according to the plan, I will start seeing better in about a week or 10
days. I will be confined to the house , but with my magnifying glass,
should be able to read the mail list. Please send me your best power my way!
Recently on the Dodge: I torqued down all the bolts and nuts in the
fron suspension and put the cotter pins in them. Front suspension now is
totally rebuilt and detail painted.. I installed my " Scarebird" disc brake
conversion brackets . new Dodge Ram 1500 front calipers and pads, And new
70-72 Ford Galaxie 11" front rotors . Altho brakes are heavy in weight,
this thing ought to stop on a dime and leave 9 cents change!, Seeing Dave
64's front 5 spoke aluminum whees convinced ne thats what I need instead of the planned chrome wheels on the front. After much searching at swap meets
and e-pay, I found a pair of era correct mid 1960's Ansen "Hustlers" In
excellent condion The swap meet vendor even threw in a set of new lugnuts
and washers. 15X 6 in the Mopar bolt pattern--exactly what I wanted.
Another bonus, they clear the calipers. Scarebird said I might have to grind
a little if I used stock steel wheels.
Got my floors patched and the 4 speed tunnel welded in. and the 1965
rear axel housing bolted in. Rear wheels are salvage yard Mopar 15X 7 cop
wheels painted white. I have the 3: 55 rebuilt sure- grip differential
sitting , waiting to be installed. A friend painted my firewall and inner
fenders a BRIGHT red. The color that the Dodge will eventually be. I wooda done that myself, but thought I better stay out of the fumes. The complete
dash is out, and whenever I can get back to it, I will paint and detail
that
Wish me good luck!..............................MO
