Re: Media blaster troubleshooting

I have a small Harbor Freight sand blaster and it even clogs up. You can only use the sand one time as it is to dirty to re-use. I get my assistant, my wife, to shake the pot when the flow slows down. I agree with Rich, suspect the media is dirty and a combination of moisture too..

My friend has a big one and he says it's very important to keep the
media clean. If you are cleaning greasy items they will cause the media
to bind together and clog. He has a screen system he uses constantly to
break it up and sift it clean.

Kinda sounds like all brands have the same inherent problems! Any body
have
one that they have had relatively few problems with clogging? I am
ready to
make a purchase and will wait for feedback!

Well, I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who has problems with
these
darned things. I'll try all suggestions!

Butch, I used to have similar problems with my sand blast cabinet. I
found that running the volume of media on a lower level would sometimes
help. If I put a lot of media in the hopper, I would sometimes get a
feeding problem like you described...Brian
