The difference is one bolt.  They will bolt up and
work just fine short that
one bolt!  The two dowels are what is critical.

Scrap must be up again a guy in town is scrapping like
crazy.  He had a
confirmed caddy bought and driven by Elvis, then given to a
lady here in
Saint Louis that he just scrapped because he said he got
more than it would
cost to fix-up and sell for a profit.

Yes, the "A" "LA" small block TorqueFlights have a
different bolt pattern.
The internals are pretty much the same afaik though.

Yup, scrappers have a different mentality: "the future be
dammed I want cash
now!"  A few years ago when the price of steel was
real high an ol' timey
junkyard near me went on a rampage crushing well over 1000
cars going back
to the 1930s, including a 1962 Polara 500! They could have
put all them on
the Internet and over time made MUCH more cash than the
scrap price.
