Tip on repairing floors-trunk

My 64 Dodge B body had pretty good floors except for two smaller patches and a couple of areas with several small holes and weakened with pits. I wire brushed the topside of the floor and cleaned the dirt from the underneath area. Then I put duct tape over the holes on the bottom side to prevent leakage. I coated the top side with a thick layer of POR 15. Then I cut pieces of fiberglass woven cloth( not the stringy fiberglass matt) and laid it into the POR 15. I pressed that down so the POR would soak into the cloth. If you have ribs , angles etc. cutting the matt on the bias works best - fits the contours better without lifting. Then I gave it another thick coat on top with the POR 15. I left it to dry overnight and thought I may need to give it another layer of fiberglass. Today it had all dried and it is TOUGH ! I think the POR15 actually worked better than resin would have. It is a little flexible so expansion and contraction shouldn't loosen it and it sticks better to metal. I don't think it will need that second coat.

BEWARE---POR 15 will get on your clothes and skin no matter how cautious you are!!! and you have to grow new skin to get rid of it! :-) ....MO
