Re: Gear Head Question

The harmonic balancer is on a 1966 AMC 199 ci./ 232 ci. Part # covers 1964-1974. Not available, at a reasonable price. I can get one that covers Jeep1972-1978, 232 ci at a reasonable price. All the dimensions are the same, the repair kit is the same part #. So what is the difference? All I can think of is the timing mark placement?

I have a good used harmonic balancer from a 318 Poly if you need one; $15 plus shpg. Same as the LA balancer.
Pictures available.

I need a harmonic balancer. The year vehicle I need is not available. I can get one that uses the same rebuild kit #, shows the same dimensions. To me it would work. The only thing I can think of is the timing marks would be off. No big deal, I can paint on the proper ones before installing. Am I correct?

Please shed light on my dilemma
