Your method will work- IF- it has sure grip positraction. ( when one wheeel
is turned, the other wheel will turn in the same direction) Make a mark on
the driveshaft and count the number of turns it makes to one revolution of
the tire. Figger the driveshaft into1/10 increments and it will get you very
close to all known ratios that are available. ie : a little over 3 and 2/10
turn of the driveshaft = 3:23 ratio-- 3 and a little over 7/10 turns = 3:73
ratio
If you do not have positraction ( tires off the ground and turn in oposite
direction to the other tire) I think if you have both tires on the ground
, move it straight forward and count your driveshat turns to one tire turn ,
it will give you the ratio...............................MO

There should be a tag on one of the bolts, if someone hasn't taken it
off.
You can do it the way you say, but it's hard to get it exact.

You know it has been awhile, but I'm trying to find out what ratio my
rearend is. I remember I think, that if you jack up the rear, mark the
driveline and turn the wheels one full turn, and count how many times the
driveshaft turns that will be close to what your ratio is?? Does that
sound right? Or is there some other way? I don't want to pull the 3rd
member out..Thanks
