No, you have to loosen the axle nut. Like Paul says, remove the nut, turn it over so the flat side of the nut is to the outside and screw it back on till the flat face of the nut is flush with the axle end . That protects the threads and keeps the axle end from getting distorted. You have to leave the nut on , or when it comes loose with a bang, the hub and drum could go flying.

Fortunately Rich had the good 'ol Mopar puller in his vast collection of tools, so I ran it over to Rob this afternoon. I'm hoping that does the trick... So...
