The por 15 stuff will work on something not under stress but using it to repair a busted off starter mount won't work. Beveling the edges and jigging the pieces tight and heating to cherry red then welding with carbon nickel rod then cooling down gradually usually works but with cast iron you won't know until you bolt the starter back in and then put it under stress.
I welded for 30 years....99% of the time on mild or stainless steel........
But I did weld cast a couple of times with some success. What I welded wasn't under stress; just pressure. Didn't leak though.
