Re: Window weatherstripping

Not sure what all you got in your kit,,,,, but what is usually in a cat whiskers kit is 8 pieces of metal backed with a chrome rib strip,,,,,,,,,,,,,, these are not for the window channel, these pieces go horizontally across the door about where you would lay your arm if resting it on the window opening, the outside pieces have clips that hook into the door it self, the inner pieces must be pop riveted, or stapled to your inside door panel,,,,,,,, the window channel which is usually another kit is U shapped, sometimes molded rubber that fits inside the metal window channel  housing, it can be tapped in place below the bottom travel of your lowest part of window, and the top part of it should fit the channel and stay in place and yes, I have used a piece of wood to tap it into place and minor shape it,,,,,,,

If this works, you’ll see a photo of my wind wing assembly.  The long strut goes all the way down inside the door and has  weatherstripping  in the channel that guides and protects the side window glass. You can’t see the actual weatherstripping channel, but could if you looked down from the top. I purchased what is supposed to be the correct weatherstripping packaged of “Cat Whiskers” from Kramers, but can’t figure out what is supposed to go inside that channel, so sent an email to the manufacturer of Cat Whiskers.

I’d like to know how you guys deal with this weatherstripping stuff. If you have restored a car like mine, I’d REALLY appreciate knowing what materials you got, where you got them, how you applied them.

Thanks all/ Butch/ Ferndale, WA
