Hi Everyone, Have a question for all of you ignition system specialists. I just purchased a Pertronix 40,000 volt flame Thrower coil to go along with my Ignitor point less system. The system that just replaces the points. Not the whole distributor. Anyway, the box says, 1.5 ohm suitable for cylinder 8 engines. Replaces most canister type coils in distributor- type inductive Ignition systems. Not suitable for capacity discharge or distributor less systems. The info inside the box explains how to check to see if you have a resistor. Now, I know that these cars have a ballast resistor on the firewall. However, I don't know if they are speaking of another resistor. It says that if you have a resistor, you need to remove it. I'm lost. Can anyone help?
