Re: hot startig & fuel?

You are on the right track.  All engines need the same thing:  air, fuel and ignition.  It is going to be one or it sounds like a combo of different things.  Not uncommon.  Cars only lasted about 5 years of use in the north where it snows a lot (or used to) and they salted the roads all the time.  There are some nice ones driven on nice days only, but for the most part the bodies were gone in five to six years.  Then the car usually got junked, engine, trans, rear end, interior and any other good parts got crushed a long time ago.  So many of us are used to have a MOPAR with far less than 100,000 miles on the odometer (it rolls over after 99,999 miles).  Some of the older guys have bought some nice ones with a lot of miles on them that were kept good and clean in a garage by driving a second car in the winter (and even in the rain).  But for the most part a car was built to last for just so long, but the engines and trans and rear ends on Mopars were considered to be, for the most part, bulletproof.  They have proven it over the years.  Then along came the govt. with laws on rustproofing (good) and laws on air pollution that helped doom hi-po cars along with insurance rates in 1971 (your call).  Now the old MOPARS are proving they hold their value as good and usually better than other brands, except for a few special cars like a Shelby 500.  Cars we used to pay $50 for are now $6,000 and up.
