Subject: Legendary... just in their own minds?
Picking up on Jim's comments, I ordered a set of front/rear side panels from
Legendary for my 64 Sport Fury. My upholsterer called me and showed me that
the Legendary panels won't work. I'm going to post what's wrong with their
panels on this website after writing their company president a letter. When
we saw the issue with the panels, I sent an email to Legendary, got a prompt
"we'll make this right...just call me" response from one of their employees,
which we did, over 20 times between the two of us. Left messages most of the
time, but did not get even a courtesy response from Legendary. Anyway, we
boogered the side trim to make it all "kind of work", but it's just not
right. I know it's not the car or my upholstery shop. You can just look at
the panels and see, comparing to my original 1964 set, that they were made
wrong. NOW I KNOW why when I saw a 64 Sport Fury last year with the trim
bent out of shape exactly what happened. Legendary side panels.
** Here's the note I got from them. Jim, if you see this guy, you could let
him I'm more than a little disappointed and am going to make a lot of people
inside and outside their company aware of their crap products and bad
service. Maybe he got sick, took vacation, quit, whatever, but having been
in business myself for almost 40 years, I can say that this is one of the
best ways to drive away customers.
"Please give us a call.We have done many many interors for the 64 and been
able to get all of them to work.If your interior shop cannot get them to
work give us a call and we can provide you with the quality installation you
expect. If there is any problems with the panels themselfs we can repair or
THERE REALLY IS A DIFFERENCE!!
if it's LEGENDARY, it's QUALITY!"

Subject: Tech question from website/ 64 Sport Fury side panels
Hello. I ordered side panels for my 1964 Sport Fury from you all in 2008,
order# 096080. I just did take them to my local hot rod upholstery shop a
couple of weeks ago for him to install them. He called and said the side
chrome trim doesn’t fit correctly. I went out and looked and sure enough,
the white tops of the Legendary panels are about ¾” wider than the factory
panels. I’m attaching photos to try and show what is incorrect. The
Legendary panels are correct as far as the holes, etc., but the top vinyl
is simply too wide. Photo # 030 show the problem the best. The panels need
to be narrower at the top for the bottom of the chrome trim to rest into the
channel where they should. What do you think is going on and what can I do
about it? If we were to try and shift the panels up, the holes for the door
and window cranks won’t align.

Subject: Re: Headliner install
Legendary. But over the weekend I got it out of the box and it's
wrong. My 63 Polara 500 has how I can best describe it as a grey,
spongy headliner with small horizontal striping running the same
direction as the bows (i.e. side to side). It's mounted above the
bows and chrome bows are visible and exposed. The headliner I got is
vinyl and has pockets on the underside for the bows to slide into.
So, I'm going to bring it and a piece of the original with me down to
Carlisle and talk to them about it. I can live with the vinyl I
suppose, but I'd prefer the original.
I guess there were different styles?
