Thanks Dodger, I am really bad with thousandths. I had heard that intake side of head should be milled 2/3 of what the deck side of the head is milled. Is that comparable with your formula ? And what 65 Darwin says--That is an issue I had not thought of . Even tho the intake surfaces are at the correct angle, will it mis align the bolt holes and port match???? I can't quite get my foggy brain around that. Don D. said with stock 1978 passrmger car 440 heads (8.2 C.R. ?) that 60 thou. milling would wake that engine up. What he did not say was what the comp ratio would be or what else would need to be done to make it all fit together correctly. I am kinda thinking about a 30-40 thous. milling. Any other input is welcome.....Thamks....................MO On Jul 11, 7:57 am, Dodger7...@xxxxxxx wrote: > Mo,,,,,,, if memory serves,,,, this is the correct formula, am sure that > the machine shop that does the milling will know for sure, and as I recall > you can go up to about .060 before causing push rod problems > > mill the intake surface of the head 0.0095 inches for every 0.010 you take > from the deck/head surface. > > In a message dated 7/11/2011 12:10:07 A.M.
