Re: 727 rebuild kits

I used a trans-go T2 kit. They have 3 kits, one for RV's, one for street/strip (both have conventional shift patterns and you can lock them in gear by pushing the button for the gear you want. The T3 kit is full manual reverse pattern shift and rebuild kit.

The directions were wrong. I took my car to a Mopar race shop as the local Chrysler dealer had not a clue as to what to do with my old trans. The race shop got it wrong the first time and I had to take it back. There is a part in the kit that looks like an empty spool of thread but it is metal. The directions say to cut the lips off of both ends of this spool. The guys tried that and it didn't work. So they went back in and put in another spool with only one lip cut off and it worked fine after that. Good, hard shifts.

Here's a link for you : http://www.transgo.com/

There are other kits on the market but with some you need a $300 floor shifter. Most ot them are reverse-pattern manual shift kits. If I wanted to shift every time I moved my car it would be a 4 speed manual trans. Trans-go makes transmission for even very old Mopars.
