RE: Welcome New Member - 1965 Dodge Coronet 500

Thanks for the welcome. My name is Dave Oldfield and we live in Orange County CA. The Coronet was a wonderful, lucky discovery and purchase. My Infiniti is in the shop and I am driving the Dodge today.

Regards

David

Welcome, and the '65 Coronet 500 is a great choice for your son, he will never forget it when he gets older. Reminds me of '65 Coronet 500 I acquired after I got out of the service back in '80. It was light yellow with black interior, Keystone mags, Pro-trac tires (remember those?) and had a potent high compression 413 swapped in. That was a kick-ass car that forever made an impression on me, was my wife's favorite too. By '81 I was a family man attending college on GI bill, and the car's appetite for hi-octane gas, spark plugs, and tires was too much to handle at the time. I decided to sell it to buy a /6 Barracuda that I used as family and college car the next few years. I never regretted buying that Coronet 500 but I have always regretted selling it.

> When my son James was approaching the age of 16 we started talking about getting him a car to drive to high school. I have been 'a car guy' since I was a kid, and my son liked cool cars too. I expected we would get a Chevelle, Camaro or Mustang for him until one evening we went to the local cruise in at a hamburger place and saw a really clean 65 Coronet 500 for sale. Wihin a week we owned it and he drove it with joy until he started college a few years ago. We intend to build a stout new Poly for it ala Gary P. and for James to have for his kids someday. This club has been incredibly helpful for tech info and links to sources for parts.
