yes that will work, or you can just blow out your heater core like you were planning to, and then just place corks in the heater  core tubes, and grind them down so as hoses will go back on over the top of them,,,,,all looks original then and the parts are all there if anyone ever wants to redo it,,,, wine bottle corks work great,,,,,,, if you need help emptying the wine bottles let me know
