Re: paint job

Jacob, paint jobs are
get what you pay for, and sometimes, like any other bussiness there are crooks. It takes soooo many hours to strip bad ugly paint with bondo, hidden rust, and dents that every car is different. In our area, Vancouver Washington near Portland Oregon, the Macco Auto Paint does a great job, but spells it out to you, and the paint itself is O.K but not to PPG standards which is the best in my opinion. I had my bodyshop owner buddy paint my 64 GTO and the lone gallon of red was $634.00, not including clear or catilist.Plus I traded him one of my 62 darts' for the labor! Remember auto mechanics shops are in the upper 60-80 range per hour and bodymen work just as hard.I learned to do most my self these days and I think I will take my 60 plymouth Fury to Macco next month,Good luck, Russell the Trie Fryer

Guess its not that bad then. I wasnt taking it down to bare metal or anything, since I'm going back with same color I was gonna not do door jambs or under hood. When I pull motor I was gonna remove everything and sand and spray it all black so the turquoise motor would stand out.

hey guys, i went today asking around for a price to paint my car. Going back with same color, they are gonna take all the chrome off etc to do it, smooth out any bumps etc...anyways, seems the price is gonna be about 3500 dollars. Does this sound about right or too high? i always hear at car shows how these guys have super nice paint jobs and it only cost them like 1500 bucks. lol
