I am upgrading my wiring so I am going with the file called Fuseable Link Update.  Look at the highlighted parts of the drawing.  This will make my Alt gauge not work, something I think is a good thing as too many of our old cars have burned to death or be left dead on the side of the road for a short or loose connection that takes forever to find. 

 

If you decide to leave your stock wiring all org and don't want to upgrade it you can do what they did starting in 1965, (I think).  Look at the pic Fuseable Link Old and see  they highlighted area.  This is where you put it.  A easy and simple addition.  You will protect you car from an overload, but will still have all the weak points in the wiring that can still fail and leave you stranded somewhere.  But it is still a good idea to put one in.
