Rich,
I suggest you send me the problem head for me to check it out at the shop. Whatever the problem may be I can diagnose and fix it; or if there is a crack or hole where water is weeping or worse - I will port a new head and send it back to you when finished; either way let me know the shpg. cost and I will cover you both ways and the cost of any head work Kimosabe!

Yesterday Jason helped me keep the car running while I made some adjustments and we got it running suitable to test. We ran it about 1 and 1/4 hours. It is dripping some water out of the pass side collector and needs lots of advance to run decent. Vacuum is better but only about 12" and not real steady. It smokes mostly from the pass side when revving it and then tapers off to almost equal on both sides but not extreme. It has an H pipe so that accounts for it on both sides.
We discovered that cyl #2 is not firing at all or at least just occasionally. The wire is good and it gives good spark when you put a tester on it. Strictly a cylinder thing. That head is the same one every time regardless of which side it's on. IE: the problem follows the head and is in that chamber. It appears there is water above the intake valve. The bolt holes for the headers are not an issue. They just need to be sealed very well.
It ran pretty well for a 7 cyl engine. I drove it around a bit and got all sideways when I punched it once. Even on 7 cyl it shows potential for out doing the last engine combo. Now I just hope I can find the crack or ? in the head and resolve that issue.
I'll keep you all informed.
