Poly Block ID

Can anyone tell me about this poly block?

Lower LF Block (cast) - 2468230

RF Block @ deck (stamped) - A 318-12-11

Side 12-3-64

Interestingly this block has "standard freeze plugs with no signs of
haveing the land in the block machined out.

The 66 block that I hot tanked which spun the #2,3,4 mains had the
shallow "disc" type freeze plugs.

Is there any rhyme or reason to when they used the different freeze plug types??

Thanks!!
