Good question. Probably they were just surplussed at the end of the season. They were seen only "old cars". 
That is just one of the now hard-to-believe practices back then, like the Ramchargers parting out their "The High and Mighty" C/A 1949 Plymouth or having no idea what happened to their '65 awb after the '65 racing season.
