Trans question

As I mentioned before I had completely fractured my tailshaft housing all the way around just behind the trans mount.  It is the 727 pushbutton unit behind my '64 318 poly.  I have another transmission in hand now and want to remove the tailshaft housing from it and install it on my transmission, after a few mods ie: gussets.  

What do I need to do to remove the housing?  My concern is the parking sprag.  I have removed the flange from the tailshaft and the speedo gear is pulled.  The parking cable is removed from the trans also. Will I need to remove the parking sprag housing before I unbolt the tailshaft housing or can it come off with the unit. My gut feeling is that I probably do need to remove the parking sprag housing first
