I towed a 69 Road Runner Hemi behind a 69 GTX for quite awhile before I got my first Dodge D150.  Beefed up the rear suspension a bit, trans cooler, and brake controller, outside of that,,  the truck had the same tranny and rearend as the GTX had.  I don't see a problem.
