I pulled my old '65 Belvedere/Satellite sales brochure out to see what engine options were offered. I was a little surprised at the variety and what seems like redundancy.
6 cyl. 225 1 bbl. with 8.4 to 1 (slant)
8 cyl. 273 2 bbl. with 8.8 to 1 (A)
8 cyl. 318 2 bbl. with 9.0 to 1 (poly)
8 cyl. 361 2 bbl. with 9.0 to 1 (BB)
8 cyl. 383 4bbl. with 10.0 to 1 (BB)
8 cyl. 426 4bbl. with 10.3 to 1 (BB)
There is a rendering of all the engines and it's clear the 273 was the new design and the 318 was the old one. Interestingly, the 426 came with chrome valve covers and air cleaner and it was turqouise (no Orange Monster here). It was also the only one shown with a clutch fan. No HP ratings listed.
 
The '66 brochure indicates Chrysler dropped the 426 for B Bodies:
6 cyl 1 bbl. at 145 HP-215 ft.lbs.
8 cyl. 273 at 180 HP-260 ft.lbs.
8 cyl. 318 at 230 HP-340 ft.lbs. (I'm starting to see why so many of you like this engine)
8 cyl. 361 at 265 HP-380 ft.lbs.
8 cyl. 383 at 325 HP-425 ft.lbs.
 Again, these are sales brochures and options are subject to change throughout the year.
