Re: 440 boat anchor / paperweight?



Thanks to all who replied. The heads were off already; it is a short block. The valley cover was off too, and the water was to the top of that chamber. The lifter area had been sprayed with white  lithium grease at one time so that may have helped. There was Marvel Mystery oil in the piston holes that were not at TDC. I'll drain the pan and leave the motor uncovered a few days to help it air out for now. 

I'll probably never use this 440 anyway, at this point of my TO DO lists. It seems a shame to scrap it without giving it a chance at relighting. I'll ask the local Mopar club if anyone is interested. $100 sound fair?
