Re: Shift Kit 727 behind Poly

Dennis,
If you are leaking from converter drain back which can cause fluid to come out the vent (top of the front pump housing) the problem is caused by excessive converter hub to bushing clearance. The Transgo kits include a new manual valve which lets the converter fill in Park position as well as Neutral in 66 and later TF's.

Thanks,

I appreciate the information.  I will be installing a kit and from what I have heard the TF-2 seems to be the best choice for me.

The SK-TFSC had my interest because of the leaks I have that are made worse by the converter draining back.  I'm going to try to find if the SK-TFSC can be used with the TF-2.

I'm going to add dye to the transmission today and run it on jack stands.  I want to find out where the leaks are before I pull the transmission.

Thanks again for the information, appreciate your comments.

Dennis,
I have installed quite a few of the TF-2 kits over the years and am very satisfied with their performance. I like to feel my transmissions shift! I put one in my 1994 V-10 truck at 60,000 and she shifts like new at 130,000. I've used Transgo kits in several other "off brand" transmissions with similar results.

I am going to be pulling the engine and transmission out of my 63 Belvedere with the 727 and Poly.

I would like to do a shift kit for street driving and I am looking at the Transgo TF-2, will that be too harsh for normal street driving?  I think I recall in the past a comment that going to the TF-1 did not make much of an improvement.

While looking at the Transgo kits I found their SK-TFSC kit that they say among other things will reduce drainback of the converter.  I would appreciate any thoughts or comments on this kit.
