Well .........If you were to maintain a tank of fuel it would keep the pump cooler for longer life cycle of the pump or that's my understanding. Hence the reason you not supposed to run your vehicle low on fuel all the timeJason
Sent from my iPhoneOK, somebody please enlighten me. I've never seen any evidence that in-tank fuel pumps do anything that inline pumps cannot do. Maybe I haven't looked in the right places.
My belief, since I first heard about in-tank fuel pumps in new cars has been "what a cool gimmick for auto dealers who get to charge customers to drop their fuel tanks to service
a component that is generally much easier to service when it's not in the fuel tank". Some acquaintances have said that I'm cynical. Maybe.
I heard this some while ago: "No matter how cynical I get, I just can't keep up!".
So, out there in the real world, why is an in-tank fuel pump better than an inline one?

I have been doing a Google search to see if a retrofit sending unit with fuel pump for our tanks is available or if anyone makes a retrofit fuel tank and so far I have not found anything. If anyone has any thoughts or information on in-tank fuel pumps it would be appreciated.
