There are some companies out there who are making in tank conversions.  This company has both carb and fuel injection versions and the depth of the tank only needs to be 6" to 10".  http://www.tanksinc.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=84/

I have been doing a Google search to see if a retrofit sending unit with fuel pump for our tanks is available or if anyone makes a retrofit fuel tank and so far I have not found anything.  If anyone has any thoughts or information on in-tank fuel pumps it would be appreciated.
