We've had a number of people do this. The Gear Vendors unit will take any abuse the TorqueFlite will survive, it appears to be a much better solution (from a reliability standpoint) than the A518 swap. It is generally a bit more expensive, however.
At this point in time Gear Vendors only fits '66-later transmissions, so a shifter conversion is required. It's a pretty basic deal (bolt-in) for the column and console cars, where the pushbutton unit needs to be modified. We had discontinued the pushbutton conversions a couple years back but due to strong demand have started doing them again.

Hum, I guess the "park" function on the PB would be an issue too.
