Re: First Car

My first car was a 1971 Ford Pinto Runabout.  I was school bus yellow with a black vynal inside, automatic and AC.  I loved that little thing.  But my second car was 1962 Chrysler Newport 4 door Sedan.  I had that car for 9 years and put over 300k on it.  It's still up here in Tacoma I think...but I've not seen it for about 9 years....but I'll see her again I'm sure.  Inline image 1

1971 was the only year for a 1/2 glass rear hatch for the Pinto and it had chrome metal decoration on it Inline image 2Inline image 3, it also held the rear open with two large springs in the back panels and some funky metal hinges to keep it open, I bet more than one person lost a finger in them.  The next year it was full glass windows on the Runabouts and gas struts to hold open the hatch.
