RE: 65 Drop top

DJ you are somewhat correct, in my opinion.  If I buy a car for $1000 or more it damn well better have a engine and tranny in it.  Just from a quick look at the pics, it don't look like that engine is complete, let alone salvageable.  Plus it's not a car that is in high demand like a Charger or Cuda or anything like that.  And as I said earlier, it's gonna cost more than it's worth just to get that thing road worthy.  To get that thing to a number three condition is gonna cost probably twice what the car is worth in that condition.  I had a 68 Runner that I paid $1500 for and had roughly $4000 in body work done to it.  It was nowhere near done.  Still needed paint, a good portion of the interior, carpet, and god knows what else.  It likely would have cost another $10,000 or more just to get it to the condition my 65 Polara was in when I bought it 7 years ago.  So knowing it was a money pit, I sold it and kept my Polara.  An awesome decision I think.  Now I have a car that, even though it's far from done, is still a cool ride and I have the only one in town.  How many Charger or Challenger or Duster etc. owners can say that.  My buddies are kind of the same.  One's got a 66 Monaco rag, of which I sent a couple pics earlier.  Another buddy has a 62 New Yorker on which he out the long ram intake and an aftermarket 4 speed.  Thanks for letting me rant about one of my passions.

Ok, M2CW, you guys didn't look at the pictures very well? Drivers side floor needs replaced. Someone welded in a flat sheet of metal. The trunk floor has holes in it, probably needs replaced also? As rusty as the engine looks, pistons and cylinder walls maybe rusted together.
And finally, this is the way I receive all these emails, if you all could delete all that stuff at the end of them, before forwarding would be great.
I would be willing to pay $1000 to $2000 range for the car, but only after further visual investigation.

Here is one interpretation of price condition, from "Collector Car Market Review"

"#4 Fair: runs and drives OK but needs work throughout the vehicle. Body shows signs of wear or previous restoration work. Any rust should be minimal and not in any structural areas. Cosmetics, body, and mechanics all need work to some degree.

#5 Poor: In need of complete restoration, but is complete and not a rust bucket beyond repair. May or may not run. Not roadworthy.

Parts or Salvage: Incomplete vehicle most useful for parts. Generally, take 50-60% of the #5 value."
