Transmission 1964 Plymouth (was Re: Abridged summary of 1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx - 4 Messages in 1 Topic)

I'm changing the subject to match the topic question.

James, the guys who said they are all the same obviously never worked on them. :) I have not heard of a a push button tranny from a cuda or a 267 engine.

Since you have modified the 318 poly block to accept a newer 318 S.B. 727 you will not be able to use the push buttons to shift. But! I think you can still buy an special part from Imperial Services that adapts the '66 and up TorqueFlites to use the buttons..

By the way,the dart/valiant are A body Moaprs. (Except the 1962 Dart). The 1965 trans still uses cables. 1966 is the year they switched to levers.

If you decide to go with another cable trans, then any 1962 to 1965 Poly 318s trans will be workable. 273 also, though it may be a 904. Floor console shift use different length shifter cables.

I know where some small block PB transmissions are for sale, but not near to you unfortumately.

Hope this helps.

Gary H.
