Re: Starting problem

Sounds to me like you have found your problem.  A bad switch would cause those symptoms.  I think a lot of the switches etc. being mfg'd today are cheap junk.  I've run into a similar problem trying to replace a turn signal switch on my wife's 70 VW bug.

Hi - I replaced my battery cables.  I then tried to start the 273 and nothing - no starter or indicator lights although headlights, horn and fuel gauge are OK.  I ran a cable directly from the solenoid terminal on the starter to the positive terminal on the battery and the starter ran. It is possible I jostled a wire on the firewall but I was not anywhere near there.  The wire connecting the neutral safety switch on the transmission to the bulkhead connector was recently replaced and looks good. Any ideas of what the problem is? Any reasonably simple tests I can run? Thanks, Bob
