That's gotta be it.   "Early" here means earlier than a Magnum, so LA.

Magnum intake bolts go straight up-and-down, and LA intake bolts are at an angle perpendicular to the head, 6 each on both sides.  You can see both sets of bolt holes in the picture.  A poly has 8 bolt holes on each side, and the 4 ports on each side are evenly spaced across the head.
