The bearing carrier is the same, the flange is different only up to 1961 and it can readily be altered with an angle grinder and re-drilling two holes.
This is not hard at all. No cutting of housing and welding, you can buy axle shafts now (see eBay) that they will make any length for you, but you need to get the bearing adjusters from the later models to use them.
Or you can retain the original axles and go through the process as described in the other thread.
There is no later housing as narrow as the '62 and '63 rear ends.
