My initial thought was to mount in on the front of the radiator core support in front of the battery or the horns. Could pull out the glove box liner and put it there if the core support is judged to be too hot. There was a caution about putting it in the enclosed glove box but that might not apply to these newer digital units that should run cooler - case in point would be the 6+ you have in the glove box..
My goal is to not put
in non-factory holes in the car. Eventually, it is going back to be a 426W clone.

try to mount it in a cool location. in my race and street car i mounted my
MSD ignition controller in the glove box. i do not have a 6AL-2, but i have a digital 6+ in the race car and 6AL in my street car.
