I've lost count of how many places I've lived where the driving was generally courteous and polite until an influx of taxi drivers from countries where they don't really even have roads, let alone road rules and laws. Then because _they_ drive rudely, that drags down _everyone's_ behavior and soon it's dog-eat-dog. For that reason, I have long advocated that every taxicab should have a non-synchro manual transmission, nonpower steering, nonpower brakes, and 0-60 acceleration about equal to that of a stock slant-6 Dart: adequate, but not more.
