David-I’ve sent this on to Sam and asked him to make a couple sets we can pass around for feedback… I expect we’ll hear positively from him soon to get your car in… Need your phone and email me in two weeks if we haven’t heard anything before… Thanks From: 1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of David M. Nielsen Roland, I spoke to some of the guys at tti about making some short tube headers about a year ago at the Spring Fling in Van Nuys, and they said that the long tubes were such a pain in the rear that there was no way they would ever take on another Poly project. That being said, I am about 45 minutes from Corona (TTi’s location), and I have a 56 Plymouth with the original 277 Poly and would be happy to volunteer my car if you have convinced them otherwise. I am just starting to rebuild the car so if they needed to pull fenders etc, it would not be a problem at all. You can contact me off list if you like. Yes it's not a main stream package but you will be very happy with the poly once you have the car running. They are amazing! Mine pulled like a big block even with a decent sized cam in it and no headers. If there is any way you can make headers I would recommend it that is a real hold up area in my opinion Then get a big cam and loose converter if running a auto tran. People will be stunned at what that set up will do Jason Sent via the Samsung GALAXY S® 5, an AT&T 4G LTE smartphone
Dan, Just a quick overview on the Poly...Rods down are the same parts as an LA 318/340 (rods, crank, bearings, oil pump). Front of the engine is the same as well (timing chain, timing cover, harmonic balancer, water pump). One note is that the water pump must be 67? and earlier as the water outlet is on the drivers side...unless you have a later radiator. Distributor and drive shaft are also the same. Pistons, cam, heads, and valve gear are the different parts. Do plenty of research before you buy your parts, and make sure your machinist/builder has a great rep with lots of experience. He may not be the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. I'm at the tail end of my build and will be happy to answer questions and share info with you if you like. Just email me.
