Every time I see POLY news on one of the threads I go into heart palpitations in wonderment that we might really just pull this off… not only successfully but with great enthusiasm… Here at ‘headquarters’ we’re feeling a groundswell of excitement for future developments and honest-to-God Max and Hemi spanking abilities on half the budget, none of the swap hassle, and one of Mopars most unique powerplants ever developed… To refresh, it was really an econo Hemi that saved the corporation millions of dollars in the mid/late 50’s by going to a single rocker shaft but opening opposing valves ala the Hemi… And right now we are helping Street Rodder Magazine do an install using Edelbrock’s new EFI… I chatted with Michael Harding of Street Legal TV at MATS and he had several interesting notes regarding the project… Both of these editors own and daily drive Poly cars… (If only we could get the foundry to pick up production… I have agonized over jumping ship to larger/more attentive foundries but loyalty and integrity have prevented it… If we go to doing heads and crossrams, there is no foundry that has the design capabilities and expertise we have right now and that demands allegiance…) From: 1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Hall, Ricky L Doing some Poly manifold prep while waiting on the engine rebuild. Was not sure the Edelbrock #8131 fuel line & filter kit would clear the water temp sender and manifold - but it is a custom fit. Going with Lokar bracket and cables for throttle and tranny kick-down. Found the style brass barb fittings I like on eBay from Zoro tools. Took several wraps of the thicker 4mil Oatey yellow thread tape. I read the average plumber uses 4-5 wraps when using the thinner while Teflon thread tape. Fittings that fit tight and don’t need thread tape to fill the gap get Permatex (anaerobic) high temperature thread sealant. Also learned you do not want to put thread tape or sealant on the first 1 or 2 threads of the male fitting. And you wrap it clockwise as you look at the threaded end you are wrapping.
