Hi Bill,The shifter cable can be released by pulling the cable out as far as possible (so the cable body is out of the case) and slipping a slender screwdriver along the right side of the cable. There is a spring coil on the female linkage that must be pushed to towards the transmission center to release the cable male end. This action should result in separation. The park cable can be a bitch! If you loosen the wedge bolt and tap it forward it will release the lock on the cable. If the cable will not move in the housing (corrosion) You will likely need to drop the small housing and remove it from the transmission as an assembly. Drain the transmission or be prepared for a mess!
