Re: 62-65 VIN

For your example, "say a mid-model year change in a transmission part?"  "Would a repair shop have any need to investigate the VIN in ordering parts for a 62-65 Mopar?"

Not in this case. The 62-65 transmission is identified by it's 10,000 day calendar number on the side rail. It identifies the transmission not the VIN.

Subject: 62-65 VIN

Hi - I understand that the VIN on newer cars with 17 digit VINs can be used to identify parts numbers, especially if there have been mid-model year part changes.  My question is whether the sequence portion of the 62-65 Mopar VINs can be used for similar information, say a mid-model year change in a transmission part? Would a repair shop have any need to investigate the VIN in ordering parts for a 62-65 Mopar? Thanks

Please address private email -- email of interest to only one person -- directly to that person. That is, email your parts/car transactions and negotiations, as well as other personal messages, only to the intended recipient. Do not just press "reply" and send your email to everyone using the general '62-'65 Clubhouse public email address. This practice will protect your privacy, reduce the total volume of mail and fine-tune the content signal to Mopar topic. Thanks!
