Re: Intake manifold results - dual plane vs single plane

Engine dyno = flywheel. Had the alternator, water pump and engine driven fan on the engine. Pretty much as I run it at the strip. Well, the alternator was just along for the ride.

502hp at the flywheel or is that at the rear wheels?

Me.

Through last year I was using an Edelbrock Torker II. I picked that based on more 10 + year old manifold testing program from a magazine (Mopar Action?) I was running out of the box Performer RPM heads and 1 3/4" Doug Headers (D451). Guys who's engine and racing experience I respected were telling me I needed to get rid of the Torker and get a Performer RPM dual plane.

So, this year, I went to the Performer RPM dual plane, Doug 2" headers (D452) and had the heads ported.

The firm who did the porting, G&K engines, compared the flow of the two intakes and says there was a definite advantage to dual plane unit.

Performance wise, those three changes only picked up 4 tenths and 3 mph. Last year's combo engine dynoed at 502 HP.  Didn't dyno this year.

MML,
I am working off the webmail so hopefully this goes through and I can read any "replies" in the same webmail format.

Quesiton: Who was testing their Big Block at the strip with the dual plane Edelbrock vs. the Single plane (Akron Don?) and which manifold performed best; single or dual plane?
This thread was probably posted about 3-4wks. ago and I have not been able to access the 62-65 List for ages.

Thank you!

Please address private email -- email of interest to only one person -- directly to that person. That is, email your parts/car transactions and negotiations, as well as other personal messages, only to the intended recipient. Do not just press "reply" and send your email to everyone using the general '62-'65 Clubhouse public email address. This practice will protect your privacy, reduce the total volume of mail and fine-tune the content signal to Mopar topic. Thanks!
