Very interesting, not starting can have a number of causes but not stopping sure points to the ignition switch. Do you have stock ignition with the ballast resistor and coil?

I took off in The 65 Plymouth and it just died with me cruising at 20

squirters and it was getting gas. I tried restarting, and the starter
wouldn't turn over. I noticed my battery ground was loose, so I turned
it ion the post, back and forth, still wouldn't spin, but the electric
fuel pump was running. I tightened the cable on the battery post, and
at first wouldn't start, but finally did. I was running funny on the
way home, and when I got home I turned the key off and it continued to
run. After a few minutes, it shut down. I restarted, and it would not
shut down again, so I pulled the ground cable from the battery post to
shut it down.
Any guesses?
