leaky automatic transmission questions

Hi all,

I was contacted by a man who just bought a 1962 Plymouth: lucky guy! He had some PB 727 transmission leak 
questions about the  common leaks in PB transmissions and I know at least several of you here have dealt with fixing. 
Any suggestions I can pass along to him? From his email: 

> My two biggest leaks at this time are:
 1) the pan gasket. Replaced the filter and gasket and the fluid seeps right around the pan. The previous owner told me 
he had issues with trans fluid leaks also. I was thinking of buying a Dorman replacement pan for a 518 trans and the 
reusable MOPAR gasket, any thoughts? > Don't get me wrong, the cables are somewhat wet also.

> 2) A leak is inside of the driveshaft flange (that the driveshaft  bolts on to.). It's not leaking around the tail shaft flange 
seal).  But with the driveshaft removed I see a large nut and a large serrated washer behind the the large nut . (I have 
not taken anything apart  yet/ just removed the driveshaft.). I can watch fluid seep around the  bottom of the serrated 
washer. Is there a seal that is behind that  serrated washer? or another large flat washer that acts as a seal. I could 
understand if it were the outer shaft seal. But not leaking  from  around the nut and serrated washer that holds the 
output flange on  to   the transmission output splined shaft.
